Il Mare is a travel based magazine that focuses on the lifestyle of native Italians living in beach towns. It speaks to the laid-back nature of life on the Mediterranean, while bringing attention to the almost ‘fetishization’ of these people from the American lens. Color palette, fonts, and layouts were chosen based on a combination of research and overall aesthetic. Simple page layouts emphasize the the simplicity and serenity of life on the beach. Furthermore, the simple layouts draws attention to the content of the piece, expressing a strong commitment to the magazine’s overall message.
