TASK: Create and design an app for mobile.
DoDo is an educational app designed to teach users of all ages about the environment, endangered animals, and techniques to ensure a greener future. I researched other educational apps and noted the repeated use of illustration, vibrant colors, and engaging yet simple UI/UX design. I sketched logo designs of endangered or extinct animals (i.e. dodo, tiger, elephant, etc.) but landed on the dodo as it stands as a symbol of extinction in our society. Through many iterations of the DoDo logo, I decided to focus on the beak shape as the highlight of the design. This beak design made the brand immediately recognizable in any iteration or size of the multiple logotypes. The illustrative logo lended itself to the design of the UI/UX of the app itself, maintaining a consistent vision and style throughout the brand. The final logo and brand identity blended recognizable symbols and modern illustrations, emphasizing DoDo’s place in the educational world.
