TASK: Develop a visual identity for a new publicly funded space.
Museum of Type is committed to archiving, showcasing, and educating the history of written language through typography. MoT’s visual identity was inspired by that of the MoMa and Whitney, art museum’s in New York City. MoT was developed to feel adjacent to those identities, but stand alone as it’s unique entity. MoT had the unique challenge of designing with typography, not around it. The shapes of letters and symbols suddenly become far more important, with each curve or corner now contributing to the overall layout of each design.
